Royal United Mortgage LLC Schaumburg Branch: VFW Bingo Night
The Royal United Mortgage LLC Schaumburg branch decided to give back in a big way. The Veterans of Foreign Wars post 2298 would play host to a bingo night, to attempt to raise money for a new roof. So, a few members of our Schaumburg Illinois branch decided to help out as best they could.
See what they had to say about the event below:
“This is the first time volunteering at the VFW and man did we have fun! This local VFW is raising money to get a new roof. We not only participated in their Monday night bingo but also donated $500. So many people came up to say thank you. It was a great way to spend 2 hours on a Monday night!”– Caitlin Thorsen
“Since my wife and I have been organizing the Memorial Day Parade for this VFW Post for the past 10 years, I was excited to hear that Royal United Mortgage wanted to sponsor a Fundraising event to help replace the VFW’s leaking roof. This VFW Post actively supports multiple Veteran organizations, consistently donating both their time and money to those most in need. It is rewarding to give back to an organization that is so concerned for the needs of others that they have been putting off their own building needs.
Thank you, Royal United Mortgage!!!”– Kenneth Andresen
“Bingo night at the VFW was a blast! Everyone was very nice. We each contributed personal funds to play 6 rounds of “Lightning” (essentially a condensed version of the classic Bingo) – none of us ended up winning any prizes, but we had a lot of fun trying! The VFW had homemade desserts and snacks for sale which we purchased and enjoyed through the night. RUM generously donated $500 towards the cost of the new roof as well. Their Bingo night seemed to be a big success! Although the total cost of the roof is a staggering $30,000, I’m proud to be part of an organization that honors and assists veterans, and hopefully our contributions will help ease the financial burdens this VFW may face.
This volunteer experience was very enjoyable. We had a chance to hang out and play games, but more importantly it gave us the opportunity to give back. I spent about $35 on bingo tickets and didn’t win a single game, but I don’t feel like I lost at all.
10/10 would do again!”-Vanessa Norman
“I feel like this was something off the beaten path that ended up being a lot of fun for anyone who went. We know exactly where our funds are going and got to spend time with the actually people it will be benefiting! I look forward to many more events with this organization, not only from a financial support aspect, but spending time with the folks who have defended our country and are damn proud of it!”– Alison Levar
“I have volunteered in the past n do it again in the future. Great event for a great cause to help the Vets get a new roof. I come from a military family 3 from the Navy and one from Air Force Academy.”-Steven Ambrose
