Mortgage Education Series: Equal Housing Opportunity
According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD’s) website “The mission of the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) is to eliminate housing discrimination, promote economic opportunity, and achieve diverse, inclusive communities by leading the nation in the enforcement, administration, development, and public understanding of federal fair housing policies and laws.” FHEO protects potential borrowers from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, and familial status.
Royal United Mortgage LLC (Royal) is proud to be an equal housing opportunity company. Royal takes all matters related to equal housing extremely seriously and has implemented HUD’s mission throughout all levels of the organization. To ensure that this mission is continuously carried out, Royal will occasionally conduct a random sampling of its loan advisors to ensure that each individual is complying with the company’s equal housing policies and procedures. Additionally, the company requires every new hire to pass a test related to equal housing.
FHEO is an organization designed to ensure that no borrower or potential borrower feels the effects of housing discrimination. Royal encourages everyone to know their rights and also how to report a company if they feel those rights have been violated. Royal is a proud supporter of the FHEO and knows that together we can help put an end to housing discrimination.
