Real Client Success Story: Giving Delores Her Peace of Mind

Delores was one of my recent clients who was looking for a little relief from her mortgage payments so that she could take care of some other expenses.  She was trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

She immediately struck me as a neat lady, fun to work with, and who had a real nice spirit.  Delores and I started talking and I learned that she was a special education teacher of 20 years down in Arlington Texas.  She was making pretty good money but she was having trouble making ends meet.  We then started to talk more about her and some of her goals.

Like most of us, Delores had some debt that had built up over the years.  In addition to the mortgage payment, which was the focus at the beginning, she also had a debt consolidation that she recently took out and some lingering student loans.

Loan Advisors often get to know clients very personally.  I think the best way to learn about where they are in life, and what goals they have, is to really listen to what they have to say.  We were able to talk easily, even with calls at 6:00am on a Sunday.  We had such candor with each other that while assessing her property, that I told her that I thought her home insurance was higher than it needed to be.  As a Loan Advisor who has viewed many different scenarios, I urged her to ask for a re-quote or look at a different insurance company.  We also talked about her plans after teaching and what her retirement picture looked like.

What I ended up presenting her was a cash out to pay off the debt relief and take care of the student loans, while keeping her mortgage payment the same. Having two of the three debts off the table, we were able to free up extra cash flow so Delores could put more aside for retirement.  With the payment program that we finalized, we did everything we needed do to put her in a much better situation moving forward.

Delores was sincerely a real joy to work with.  Clients like Delores are really what make this job worthwhile. Knowing that I was able to help her out and put her in a better situation is what makes my job even more rewarding.
